1. Registration 

Is there a fee for attending the German Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction 2025? 
Registration for the Disaster Risk Reduction Conference 2025 is free; there are no participation fees. 
However, please note that all attendees are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel, accommodation, and other related expenses. 
 
 
Is there a registration deadline or can I register on the day of the event? 
Online participation registration can be completed at any time after the registration period begins. However, we recommend registering in advance to the conference, as registration is required to access the event content. 
Please note that no more spots are available for in-person attendance.

Once registered, what happens next? 
Upon registration, you will receive additional information regarding the event process and access details. All participants will be contacted via email from Fachtagung-Katastrophenvorsorge@drk.de. Please remember to check your email regularly to ensure you receive important updates and communications regarding the conference.

2. General Information 

What is the German Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction? 
The German Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction is an annual two-day event organized by the German Red Cross (GRC) since 2016, with support from the Federal Foreign Office. It serves as a platform for experts in national and international disaster risk reduction to exchange ideas and promote synergies. 
This year's conference, titled " From Climate Change to Crisis: Integrating Disaster Preparedness and Climate Action" delves into the challenges, opportunities, and current developments in disaster risk reduction and management within the backdrop of national and global trends such as climate change, health crises, and societal and geopolitical tensions. 
 
 
When and where will the German Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction be held in 2025? 
The German Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction 2025 is a hybrid event. Registrants for the virtual conference can access the event hub for our first session at 9:45 CET, on Wednesday 26 March 2025 
 
The live event is taking place at the Tagungswerk in Berlin Kreuzberg, Lindenstraße 85, 10969 Berlin, Germany and will be open for networking  from 09:00 CET
 
 
Am I required to attend the entire event? 
You are not obligated to attend the entire event. For better planning, we would appreciate it if you could inform us via email, if you attend the event on site.

For online participation, you have the flexibility to attend each session according to your own schedule and interests 
 
 
Who can attend the virtual event? 
Participation in the online format is open to everyone. 
 
 
Who can attend the event in person? 
Participation in person is open to everyone. However, the capacity for on-site attendance is limited. If you have expressed interest in attending in person during your registration, you will be notified via email regarding the availability of a spot. 
 
If on-site availability is no longer possible, you will still have the option to participate in the online format. All relevant information regarding this option will also be communicated to you via e-mail.

3. Technical Questions 

How do I log in to the website? 
To log in to the website, you'll need the code that was emailed to you after confirming your registration. If you can't find the email with the code, please check your spam folder. If you still can't find the code, please contact our technical support team using the "Contact" button on our the contact page, and we'll assist you further. Once you have your code, simply enter it into the "Login" field on the homepage.

How do I navigate the website? 
After logging in with your code, you can navigate through different pages using the menu function located at the top right corner. To switch between various subsections, simply return to the menu function and select another page. Additionally, if you wish to change the website language (German and English), you can do so by clicking on the respective language icon at the top right corner.

How can I navigate the Livestream page? 
On the Livestream page, you'll find access to the Livestream itself, the chat function (located to the right), the timeline (below), and the live blog (at the bottom). If you have any questions during the live streaming workshop and would like to ask them, you can do so via the chat function located to the right of the Livestream. 
Beneath the stream, you'll find a seamless timeline featuring all relevant program highlights. Additionally, you can conveniently access upcoming virtual workshops and sessions directly from the program page.  
 
 
Translation and Subtitles 
Our livestream offers the flexibility to experience the conference in both German and English. To switch languages, simply select your preferred stream by clicking "DE/EN" below the livestream on the left. 
 
Furthermore, you can enable subtitles (DE/EN) with a single click on the "CC" symbol. To activate English subtitles, please ensure the German stream is initially selected. Then, simply click the small arrow icon located at the bottom left of the stream to switch between English and German subtitles as desired.    
 
 
How can I network with other attendees online? 
To connect with other online participants, you can utilise the participant list accessible through the menu function. Within the participant list, you'll find fellow attendees with whom you can engage. By creating a profile, you can connect with fellow participants. This connection is facilitated through the contact details you choose to share, including Email, LinkedIn, and Xing.  
 
Additionally, there's a private chat feature available for direct communication between participants 
 
 
How is the participant list structured? 
The participant list allows you to view details of other attendees and connect with them. Only participants who have opted to be included in the list during profile setup are listed. Access to the participant directory is limited to logged-in users; the term "public" refers to visibility within the website's protected area.  
You have two options for completing your profile. You can either create it immediately after your initial login on your profile page, which you'll be directed to, or you can update your information later. Simply access your profile at any time using the menu function located at the top right corner of the page.

Netiquette 
We encourage lively discussions and networking opportunities, aiming for respectful and constructive interactions among participants. To facilitate this, we have established the following guidelines: 
Please engage with others in a polite and respectful manner. Comments containing hate speech, racism, sexism, ableism, or any form of disrespect in the chat will not be tolerated. No spam or advertising: Please avoid commercial advertising and spamming within the event environment. 
Any violations of these guidelines may result in the removal of the offending participant and deletion of their posts. 
 
 

4. Accessibility 

What arrangements are made at the venue for individuals with diverse access requirements or mobility requests?
